Let us start by applying butter on a pan that is 10×15 inches. This pan must have sides. Then cut into cubes the unused butter which you will set aside along with the pan.

Next is to combine the first three ingredients in a saucepan. Without stirring, bring the ingredients to a boil over medium heat. Remember to remove the lid of the saucepan while it cooks and until it reaches a temperature of 270 degrees. Then add the remaining ingredients until temperatures reach 300 degrees.

After you remove the saucepan from the heat, add the rum extract by stirring. Pour the mixture into the pan prepared earlier. Cut the candy into small squares once it has cooled then put in bags.
